Abigail Kahraman is a British wildlife artist whose highly detailed work explores vulnerability, empathy and the responsibility humans hold towards the animals with whom we share the world.

Working primarily in pencil, graphite and pastel, she uses realism as a way of slowing down the act of looking. Her portraits focus on expression, presence and individuality, inviting the viewer to move beyond seeing an animal simply as a species and instead encounter it as a living being with its own vulnerability and value.

As a neurodivergent artist, Abigail’s practice is shaped by close observation, sensitivity to detail and a deep emotional connection to the natural world. Her work has been recognised through wildlife art exhibitions and conservation-focused projects, including selection as a finalist in the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation Wildlife Artist of the Year.

At the centre of her practice is a belief that meaningful conservation begins with connection: that when we recognise something of ourselves in another living being, responsibility becomes personal.
